Permeability of packs of polydisperse hard spheres

The permeability of packs spheres is important in a wide range physical scenarios. Here, we create numerically generated random periodic domains that are polydisperse size and use lattice-Boltzmann simulations fluid flow to determine the pore phase interstitial spheres. We control polydispersivity sphere distribution porosity across full from high close packing find all results scale with Stokes adapted for sizes. show our determination distributions well approximated by models cubic arrays at porosities greater than $\ensuremath{\sim}0.38$, without any fitting parameters. Below this value, Kozeny-Carman relationship provides good approximation dense, closely packed polydispersivity.
